Paying for online or having the best games on the 360 be shooters are not intimidating to the casual consumer?

It's the online features or Xbox 'experience' that is heralded( by media) and overrated. Not all gamers like online and not all gamers like Halo. The general consumer will move more toward a PS3 than a 360 once the price comes down. Some people prefer a good 'ol single player experience.
Why do you think the PS2 was so successful? Not because of Halo...

Doubt it would ever happen. The 360 and PS3 are plenty capable of carrying FF sales. It makes sense for DQ games because they don't really try to push system spec, and the wii dominates Japan.
The general consensus is irrelevant and moot. Sony still is a strong company and holds a strong brand name in PlayStation. Regardless of the missteps of the PS3, if any. People still hold Sony up to a certain level of performance and degree. As evident in all of these articles jumping on Sony.
Let's also say the PS3 and 360 were put in two separate boxes, each box says PS3 and 360, $299.99 and $199.99. Which box would most people pick, given the current system specs, games, etc? ...

Wasn't the PS3 supposed to "sink" in 07...when it actually had REAL problems? You know..being teh $600.00 console and all?
If Sony hasn't given up by now, don't expect them too. 08 was a great year for the PS3 and a moderately successful one for the 360. The REAL numbers and REAL indication of demand does not lie...

MS just can't get it right in Japan. As, Japanese consumers have no interest in the heralded (by media) and overrated Xbox experience.
Not having a million units sold and the worst attach ratio in Japan is a clear indication that any hopes of a Final Fantasy XIII on the console there will be null and void. Sony knows what...

I agree. Sony are definitely cannibalizing PS3 sales by investing so heavily into Blu-Ray. Maybe they did think people would buy a PS3 regardless. Dunno. But, both will pay off eventually.
Man. I have never seen anything so beautiful. I'm pretty satisfied until FEB.
Sony is scaling back because of the falling Yen. It has nothing to do with bad business or anything of the sort. Some things will get cut to compensate, but a core business like PlayStation will remain untouched.
Sure they are still in the red with the PS3 but their software sales should definitely help alleviate those loses until Sony starts to break even next year.
